The Leslie family have been the custodians of the stunning ‘Glaslough’ or Green Lake for generations. The lake is brimming with monster pike, and fishermen widely consider it to be one of Ireland’s best preserved loughs. In fact, in 1991 a fisherman reeled in a catch weighing 38lb 9oz (17.5kg) and broke Ireland’s 18 year record. Fishing is charged per rod (person) per day and includes the use of a boat.
Enjoy a morning or afternoon boating on our glistening Glaslough Lake or ‘Green Lake’. While away the hours by relaxing on one of our boats and admire the stunning scenery all around you including our ancient woodlands, gardens and of course our beautiful Castle.
Journey back in time on an enchanting carriage ride through the tree-lined avenues and bridleways, sit back and be charmed by what awaits you on your personal tour of the most beautiful areas of the Estate. The name Glaslough is derived from the Irish translation ‘calm or green lake’, the picturesque, magical village which is located just outside Castle Leslie Estate in County Monaghan. Our village is filled with impressive historical and architectural features, beautifully stone cut period buildings and a unique, vibrant and welcoming community. You can download the Glaslough Village Heritage Trail App which is a free self-guided visitor experience, starting in the heart of Glaslough village at The Diamond, following a 2 kilometre trail around ten fascinating points of interest before ending the tour at Saint Salvator’s church in Castle Leslie Estate.
