Now’s the ideal time to make a plan for the coming season – here’s or top tips for the season, from Jenny Richardson BHSAI, our Head Trainer:

  • Think about your goals for a horse for the season – e.g. what fences should you be practicing, will you stay at the same level, does your horse need to improve in a specific discipline?
  • Are you aiming for a specific event – how will you get there – what steps do you need to achieve? Can you write a flow-chart showing the progression to succeeding?
  • Have you included fun activities like pleasure rides, training clinics and beach rides? These are all great training elements in themselves.
  • Consider a training break if you need some intensive practice. We’d love to see you at Castle Leslie Estate!
  • Think about how the horse reacted to ground conditions and any seasonal challenges last year – these may need to be taken into account.
  • If the event ballots, do you have a second choice event you can attend, or a ‘fun’ day or training activity?
  • Remember to have fun – it’s all about securing personal bests, and enjoying the journey!Click on our Four Day Horse Sport package for info.
