Reader Travel Awards

Irish Independent Reader Travel Awards

Nominations are now open for the Irish Independent Reader Travel Awards 2022. There are 12 categories to choose from and we would be absolutely delighted if you could nominate ‘Castle Leslie Estate’ in any of these three categories:

Nominations are open until midnight on Sunday, 7th November 2021. AND, if you nominate in at least 10 of the categories, you’ll be entered into a draw to WIN one of eight amazing travel prizes.

Here’s some of the reasons why we think Castle Leslie Estate should be nominated;

It is one of the last great Irish castles still in the hands of its founding family; since the mid 17th Century. It is steeped in history and full of character and charm, set in a secluded and tranquil setting in the picturesque village of Glaslough, Co. Monaghan. The Castle, at the heart of the Estate, offers authentic original interiors and old-style hospitality and is a complete respite from the world. It is a truly private retreat free from distractions and intrusions of the outside world. The Estate offers an idyllic setting for outdoor activity and adventure. It’s the perfect place to discover the thrill of exploring the countryside on horseback or foot. You can spend a few hours fishing on one of Ireland’s best-preserved lakes. Alternatively, you might prefer to enjoy a massage in the Victorian Treatment Rooms at the end of an activity packed day or relax with a book in one of our many beautiful rooms. All these factors help make Castle Leslie Estate one of the most favoured hotel country estates Ireland has to offer.

Renowned for superb food, Executive Chef, Aaron Duffy combines years of Michelin experience and personal passion with some tried and tested delicious recipes of the past to create a delectable breakfast menu. The breakfast experience at The Castle is a truly unique and wonderful one. It is neither rushed nor swift and is served until 11am. We believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that it sets the tone for the guest’s entire stay. Freshness is our bi-word and this is evident in abundance at the breakfast table.

The Castle is not a typical hotel experience – you won’t find televisions, radios, or minibars in the bedrooms. The unique and dramatically different bedrooms are tranquil and calm – havens for sleeping and dreaming. The Castle is filled with beautiful furniture, antiques and heirlooms. It has twenty one original and uniquely decorated bedrooms and bathrooms. From romantic boudoirs designed with relaxation and privacy in mind to more flamboyant bedrooms decorated with rich deep colours, there’s a room and a view to suit every taste. Each bathroom is unique and some baths are fabulously large, ideal for a romantic soak for two. There is no pressure to do anything except relax and indulge yourself.

From all the team at Castle Leslie Estate.
